50’s Style

From lady-like waist fitting tea length frocks to vintage swirly headdresses… It’s all in and we wanted to add this trend to our 2017 bridesmaid collection

This is our original sketch of the dress that we named EN386, a satin & tulle 50’s style dress featuring a scooped neckline and zip up back. The sketch is shown in knee length but we made the dress a little longer so that it became tea length, perfect for dancing in!

The Mermaid Silhouette

This is our Deb, back in 1988 on her wedding day. She looked beautiful (and hasn’t changed much) in her mermaid style frock… 28 years later and ‘The Mermaid’ silhouette is still going strong with celeb’s like Michelle Keegan wearing the very feminine bridal trend

How to Choose a Wedding Veil

So, you’ve chosen the dress of your dreams and now you’re ready to find that perfect veil but you’ve hit a brick wall because there are so many options to choose from so here is our step-by-step on finding that perfect veil for you..

Most wedding veils come in 5 different lengths, starting from a 54″ waist length up to a 144″ cathedral length and are available in single and 2 tier.

You need to match your veil to your wedding dress, most bride to be’s go for an ivory dress and so you’ll need an ivory veil but other colour options are available; white, cream, champagne and rum pink.

Not all veils are available in all of these colours so please make sure you check before you set your heart on that veil.

Now you know the length of veil that you want and you’ve chosen the colour, you need to think about style. What will suit your dress, hairstyle and location of wedding.

We recommend that you choose a waist or fingertip length veil for any knee length or shorter than floor length dresses and maybe think about wearing your veil at the back of your hair, e.g.

For short hair the 1940s birdcage veil is ever so popular now and looks great with any updo hairstyles.

For a traditional church wedding, we love chapel or cathedral length veils:

  • Chapel length veils are slightly shorter then cathedral length; these veils still drape onto the floor. They are typically around 90 inches (228.6 cm) long.
  • Cathedral length veils are the longest and therefore most formal, these veils are usually around 120 inches (304.8 cm) long and some extend up to nine feet along the ground. They work best with full length, classic wedding gowns.

Here at Linzi Jay we have a beautiful range of bridal veils, from shoulder length to cathedral length tulle veils with a  choice of embellishments.

Lace edged or embroidered edged veils are perfect for a vintage bridal look while a crystal scattered veil offers that sparkle.

Some styles we offer are made in the UK, these wedding veils are customisable with different edging & scattering options including pearl & crystal.
